I have two problems with the remotes on the back. First is one bleeds off and will not hold anything as you release the pressure. The cylinder that it is controlling will start to drop quickly. Second remote leaks a constant strem of fluid under pressure at or around the small line that drains back into where you check and add oil.
I will take some pictures of this today.Posted 8/28/2012 06:41 (#2562537 - in reply to #2562525) Subject: RE: John Deere 6420 hydraulic issuesSouthern Minnesota Between Freeborn & WellsI had a problem somewhat like your second problem on my 8120. Unhook the small drain lines that connect couplers together and drain down into oil fill neck. Unhook any implement hoses, start tractor, have someone move the hydraulic levers back and forth one at a time. Any couplers that squirt oil out of those small ports have internal orings blown. They will leak off constantly with an implement attached and need to be replaced. Sometimes just one coupler is bad, sometimes all 4 can be leaking.
What I have found is that jerking hoses out under pressure damages these orings quickly. Good LuckPosted 8/28/2012 20:32 (#2563478 - in reply to #2562525) Subject: Re: John Deere 6420 hydraulic issuesNorthern KentuckyReplaced two fixed both issues thanks guys.Jump to page: Now viewing page 1 50 messages per pageJump to forum:.
Leaky Hydraulic CouplersSituation or ProblemMany John Deere attachments use hydraulic quick couplers. Simple steps can be taken to repair or prevent leaks within the couplers.SummaryHydraulic couplers use O-rings to prevent leaks. When dirt, wood chips, or any other foreign matter gets caught inside the couplers, the O-rings can be damaged or broken and allow hydraulic oil to leak.To prevent leaks, always use a rag to wipe coupler tips clean before inserting them into the couplers. This will prevent the O-ring from being cut or damaged when the tip is being inserted or removed. If your couplers have developed leaks, the O-rings need to be replaced.
