Jeff Mills (born June 18, 1963, in Detroit, Michigan) is an American DJ, record producer and composer Mills is a founder of Underground Resistance, a techno collective formed with 'Mad' Mike Banks in the late 1980s. While Mills left the group to explore his own ventures, the collective continues to be a mainstay of Detroit's music scene.

In the late 1980s Mills founded the collective with fellow producers and but left the group to pursue a career as a solo artist in the early 90s.Mills is the founder and owner of Axis Records, a record label he founded in 1992. Underground ResistanceMills is a founding member of, a techno collective that he started with former player. The group embraced revolutionary rhetoric and only appeared in public dressed in ski masks and black combat suits. Mills never 'officially' left the group, but did begin to pursue his own ventures outside of the collective.

Many of Underground Resistance's labelmate's early releases were the product of various experiments by Banks and Mills, both solo and in collaboration, before Mills left the collective in 1991 to achieve international success as a solo artist and DJ. The collective continues to be a mainstay of Detroit's music scene.

In his DJ sets, Mills usually uses three decks, a drum-machine, and up to seventy records in one hour.

In 2011, Mills switched to using three or four CD decks for most of his club appearances, instead of the usual Technics turntables.He was mentioned by Detroit rapper in his song 'Groundhog Day', from his album. Jeff mills once again indulges his passion for classic sci-fi with this 2cd re-imagining of the score to harry kleiner s titular 66 flick. It follows his -cyborg 2087- recreation and imaginary soundtracks for -the power- and -the occurence- with a deep voyage of discovery. But unlike the aforementioned, the original film plot - about a team of scientists who re miniaturized and dispatched inside a human body to fix a blood clot - thematic scales are inversed and we re drawn to mills inner, as opposed to outer, space-scapes. The action unfolds across 22 tracks and 2 cds, from bleepin, womb-like viscera and hazardous noise bursts through archetypal rhythm arrangements and fluid programming reflecting the man/machine, organic/synthesized themes of the film and his own alien/human aesthetic. It s wonderful to witness mills maturing as a composer and refining his art to something beyond a soundtrack for dancefloor rituals, but without ever losing his original blueprint, and showing that the line between cinematic imagination and dancefloor functions can be a very fine one. A boundless depository of cosmic energy controlled by an unknown force that had become too powerful to even reveal itself. A small and resourceful group of young scientists, engineers and devoted supporters create and send back through time a cyborg.

A low technological invention consisting of human fibers and machine. Out of desperation and precise planning, he is sent back to the year 1966 to prevent earths leading mathematician from thinking about the numeric breakthrough that would eventually lead to the mass thought control and human manipulation of the future. The cyborg (garth) soon discovers he is not alone in his mission, giving grave suspicion to possible traitors or spy within the young group of his creators.
