We all love the WWII setting, and no other combat really lends itself to this type of warfare.WWI combat was mostly hordes of infantry running across no man's land. Vietnam was so much guerrilla warfare and hit-and-run tactics. The pacific makes sense, but again, not enough back-and-forth like the eastern/western fronts.I think there is still so much to be explored with the stock WWII in Europe gameplay.

Adding air units in more than just munitions call-ins, beach landing combat, better progression systems for multiplayer, persistent units (like shogun 2) - all kinds of options to make a new WWII in Europe game new and fresh. CoH2's reputation in terms of balance, communication with players and feedback is really awful.The balance is actually fine. COH2's balance even when it was 'bad' is still better than COH1's where you had Relic realize they were worked into a corner. The British fundamentally aren't even viable in that game, the Panzer Elite are balanced only in a world where you can play perfectly, and the Wehrmact had games on the book where pioneer spam was so unbeatable that a US player who made no mistakes still lost to it.As far as the rest of it, you're right though. Relic kinda botched the communication and PR thing.
